Behavioural differences in wolves and dogs
Dogs were domesticated from wolves at least 15,000 years ago and they are now one of the most popular pet species in the Western world. But how different are our domestic, kibble-eating couch potatoes from their wild, group-living and highly social ancestors?
To get more insight on exactly this question, I spent three years hand-raising wolf and dog puppies under identical conditions to be able to compare their behavioural development. Join me for a half hour journey where I will share with you what I learned during those three years and together we will explore what the behavioural differences, and similarities, between wolves and dogs really are. You might get a few surprises – I know I did.
